Do you have marine debris resources for schools/teachers?

Check out our Marine Debris Education Kit.

The Tangaroa Blue Foundation Education Kit creates awareness about marine ecology and conservation issues by asking three big questions:

  • What is marine debris?
  • Why is marine debris a problem?
  • What can we do about it?

Our program is centred on key environmental concepts, including consumption, pollution, and solutions. By investigating these, students can better understand the intricate relationship between the environment and human activities.

Education Kit Overview

Teaching and Learning Model

The program is easy to use for educators and aligned with Australia’s National Curriculum: Science and cross-curricular priorities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and culture, Asia and Australia’s engagement with Asia, and sustainability.

An explorative teaching and learning model allows students to represent and re-represent their developing understanding, whilst hands-on experiences provide links to the real world beyond the classroom with real data and analysis contributing to the Australian Marine Debris Initiative. Students develop stewardship and ultimately become part of the solution for marine debris.
