What does Tangaroa Blue Foundation do?

Tangaroa Blue works to prevent and remove marine debris in Australia and across regions. 

We use the Australian Marine Debris Initiative framework to inspire behaviour change, innovation, and empower communities, industry and government to make data-driven decisions that improve ocean health.

  • Tangaroa Blue Foundation runs regular beach clean-ups across Australia to remove marine debris from our coastlines.
  • We also have 80+ marine debris monitoring sites, using citizen science to create a robust scientific picture of ocean plastic in Australian waters.
  • Tangaroa Blue runs the Australian Marine Debris Initiative (AMDI) Database, which is contributed to by thousands of volunteers and over 3,300 partner organisations.
