Who does Tangaroa Blue collaborate with?

We collaborate with community groups, other NGOs, local councils, government and international forums to tackle marine debris.

Working with policy makers and industry

Tangaroa Blue works with an array of state, federal, and international policymakers to provide data and advice on upcoming legislation. This includes contributing to international efforts (e.g., the Global Plastics Treaty) as well as efforts within Australia, including assisting councils in monitoring plastic pellet pollution and developing compliance strategies that lead to better environmental outcomes (through Operation Clean Sweep).

The AMDI Network

The Australian Marine Debris Initiative is now contributed to by more than 3,300 partner organisations, all working to tackle marine debris/ocean plastic. Although the majority of the AMDI Network work within Australia on local or national issues, we also have network members contributing data from further afield.

Supporting local efforts

Tangaroa Blue works with local communities across Australia to provide training in marine debris monitoring, support community clean-ups, and guide evidence-based source reduction plans. High-quality citizen science data submitted to the AMDI Database at the local level form a detailed national picture of marine debris.
